Learn MoreSAN JOSE, Calif., January 22, 2026 — ColorTokens, a global leader in microsegmentation and breach readiness, has been selected as a qualifying offeror under the Missile Defense Agency’s (MDA) Scalable Homeland Innovative Enterprise Layered Defense (SHIELD) contract. This $151 billion, 10-year Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) positions ColorTokens Federal to deliver advanced Zero Trust microsegmentation capabilities across the Golden Dome defense architecture, protecting critical sensing and interceptor networks from lateral movement attacks and ensuring mission continuity across land, sea, air, space, and cyber domains.
“This achievement represents a fundamental shift in how we approach defense cybersecurity – from trying to keep every threat out to ensuring that when threats get in, they cannot move,” said Jim Sutton, Vice President of Federal at ColorTokens. “Our selection validates that software-defined microsegmentation is now a cornerstone requirement for mission assurance. The MDA recognizes that in today’s threat landscape, the ability to segment and contain attacks is essential to prevent a compromise in a single sensor or satellite from cascading into total system failure.”
The MDA SHIELD award, combined with ColorTokens’ recently achieved FedRAMP Moderate Authorization for its Xshield™ platform, functions as two halves of a complete “mission-ready” package. The selection addresses critical Federal pain points by combining the SHIELD contract’s legal procurement vehicle with FedRAMP’s security clearance for immediate deployment. This dual achievement eliminates traditional procurement and security authorization barriers that typically delay critical defense projects by months or years. This allows agencies to move from contract award to operational deployment in weeks, rather than years, while ensuring breach readiness replaces breach prevention as the primary security paradigm. By creating a pre-vetted deployment pathway for Federal defense agencies, the combination enables the MDA to rapidly issue task orders and deploy microsegmentation capabilities at mission speed across complex, multi-domain environments.
Under the SHIELD contract, and as part of the broader Golden Dome initiative, ColorTokens will leverage its recently achieved FedRAMP Moderate Authorization for the Xshield platform to deliver the following core capabilities and services:
The platform’s agentless microsegmentation is particularly critical for protecting the Department of Defense’s extensive inventory of legacy operational technology and weapons systems that cannot support traditional security agents, allowing agencies to meet NIST 800-207 and DoD Zero Trust mandates for previously un-securable systems.
Xshield is designed to support Federal mission needs, empowering the Government to safeguard sensitive data, critical infrastructure, and national security. The platform provides enhanced landscape visibility and threat detection and containment, enabling agencies to test new policies without disrupting current operations.
